urgent need for a government hospital in your district - Official Letter - Std.10 - ICSE, CBSE

Write a letter to the Chief Minister of your state drawing his attention to the urgent need for a government hospital in your district.

To
The Chief Minister
Government of M P
Raipur

Subject: urgent need for a government hospital

Dear Sir,

The district of Raipur is in urgent need of a government hospital to cater to the residents of this district.
At present there is only one primary health centre in this huge district, with a minimal staff of doctors, nurses and other administrative staff.

The district covers an area of over one hundred square miles and a huge population of over 5 million. In case of illness the sick have to travel long distances to reach this health centre, alternately they have to pay exorbitant fees at private nursing homes, and may still not get the desired treatment.

Please ensure modern facilities, like CT Scan, Ultrasound, MRI Scan and operation theatres are included in the new hospital. Qualified doctors, nurses and other staff are available 24 hours with emergency facilities. A well equipped medical store with medicines for all ailments are easily available. All this will bring relief and the required medical treatment to our residents and ensure a healthy society. Please treat this request as urgent.

Thank you,
Yours truly,
Dhir J

Your ancestral house is to be sold so that flats may be built. - Essay - Std.10 - ICSE

You have lived in your ancestral house since birth. The house is to be sold so that flats may be built. Narrate the circumstances that led to the decision and describe your feelings about moving out of the house.

I was shocked on hearing the news from my mother that we would have to leave our home forever.  Our family has been living in that house for over 35 years and so we all have emotional attachment with that house. On hearing the news I was totally shocked and started crying.

I asked my mother the reason for leaving the house. She answered that my father had incurred financial losses in his business. Loans had been taken from banks by keeping our ancestral house as mortgage and being unable to repay the debt, we have no choice but to vacate the house.

The house was made by an Englishman, who later sold it to my grandfather. The architecture of the villa was elaborate with the walls made of red sandstone, carved with floral and animal images. The huge windows near the ceiling allowed ventilation making the rooms fresh and airy. From the ceiling hung a beautiful chandelier and ceiling fans. A huge pendulum clock was in the corner of the drawing room. As the house was situated near the sea shore, the view of the sun rising, the waves on the sea shore and the cool morning breeze were the highlights of the house. The room were large and spacious, and the lawn brought memories of my early childhood.

This shocking news became more evident when I saw my parents pack all our belongings into cartons and suitcases. My grandfather was deeply grieved at the turn of events and sat on a corner trying to accept the present situation.

My mother explained to us that our new home would be in the centre of town and tried to assure us that we would happy in the new apartment. As I packed some of my personal belongings, I kept aside all my toys which I had preserved but now to be given away to some charity.

As we left our home in the evening, I bid farewell to my friends and all of us were deeply anguished as the car moved away from our ancestral home.

How I managed to take care of my relatives and prepare for my exams - Essay Std.10 - ICSE

It was a bright summer morning, I woke up at 7 o'clock and since my exams were going, I had to prepare for the next exam. Since I had a holiday, I woke up early and started my morning preparations by taking a bath and I prayed for the exams before starting my studies.

I had a math exam the next day so I started to solve the difficult sums first. I had eleven chapters to complete and by 12 noon I could complete four chapters. I had lunch and rested for two hours to relax. I got up and started studying and by 7 o'clock I had completed two more chapters. Since I was studying and my parents didn't want to disturb me, they decided to go to see a new released film and as they were meeting some friends, they would also go to a restaurant for dinner later and return late at night. This arrangement was good since I could complete my studies and I felt good about the whole arrangement.

At around 8 o'clock the door bell rang and I was wondering who it could be? When I opened the door I got a big shock. My aunt and uncle from the  U.S.A were standing with a big smile and arms outstretched to give me a hug. I stood at the door with my mouth open, still trying to believe the sight in front of me. They calmed me and I welcomed them in and asked them to make themselves comfortable.

They were returning to the U.S.A later that night and they decided to give us a surprise visit. They were disappointed that my parents had gone out and they would not be able to meet them. There was enough food for me only, for my uncle and aunt, I would have to order some food from the nearest restaurant. I ordered dinner and spoke to them while we were waiting for the food to arrive. After dinner at around 11 o'clock they left for the airport to catch their flight.

When my parents returned from their outing, I narrated what happened and they too were shocked but happy that I managed to look after them so well. After a busy evening I got back to my studies to complete the remaining five chapters. And these five chapters were completed by 4 o'clock in the morning. I slept for two hours, woke up and got ready for school. Surprisingly, the paper was easy and I was able to complete it just in time.

Official Letter to the Police Commissioner regarding traffic problems for Std.10

To
The Commissioner of Police (Traffic)
Police Headquarters,
Bangalore

Dear Sir,
I would like to bring your attention tot the frequent traffic jams outside the main railway station, the market area and the new business district. The increase in population has resulted in increased vehicles and hence the traffic jams at these crowded junctions.

The problem is severe during peaks hours in the mornings and late evenings. Sundays are jammed in the market area with vehicles coming and going in all directions and the public walking in the middle of the roads.

Solutions to the market area problem can be resolved with a few traffic policemen monitoring and enabling smooth vehicular movement. The other locations will require your department to conduct a survey and suggest appropriate measures to solve the traffic problems.

Please treat these issues on a priority basis.

Thank you,
Yours faithfully,
Bryan
